2024–25 FAFSA Processing – What to Expect
The U.S. Department of Education recently announced an update to their processing of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and plan for releasing records to colleges. The following timeline may change depending on additional updates from the U.S. Department of Education.
We continue to monitor the status of FAFSA processing and will prepare official financial aid offers as soon as possible once processing begins.
Application processing
- The is available now. Submit your FAFSA as soon as you are able in order to avoid processing delays.
- Beginning mid-March, the U.S. Department of Education will be releasing records to colleges in small batches. It may take up to 4–6 weeks after the initial release date before we receive your FAFSA.
- After we have received your FAFSA we will review your eligibility for federal, state and institution aid programs. Your application review may take several weeks to ensure we are meeting regulatory requirements and providing an equitable awarding process to all applicants.
- 2024–25 financial aid award notices will be sent in April (incoming students) or June (returning students).
ADDITIONAL Requirements & SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
- If you are required to submit additional documents, our office will send you a request with details. Complete the required forms, print them for proper signatures and send them to the Office of Financial Aid via email, fax or U.S. mail.
- Additional forms and documents that are required to determine aid eligibility are reviewed within 2–4 weeks of your financial aid application being complete. A complete application consists of a FAFSA on file with the college and all supporting and required documentation has been received.
- If you have a special or unusual circumstance you may submit the appropriate form and supporting documentation for review. Requests for special or unsusual circumstances will be reviewed after you have received your initial financial aid notice. Contact our office to discuss your situation and your next steps.
